HOMEOPATHY FOR GALLBLADDER STONES

Gallstones are small stones made from cholesterol, bile pigment and calcium salts, usually in a mixture that forms in the gallbladder. They are a common disorder of the digestive system, and affect around 15% of people aged 50 years and over. Somethings that may cause gallstones to form include the crystallization of excess cholesterol in bile and the failure of the gallbladder to empty completely.

Gallstones range in size from as small as a grain of sand to as large as a golf ball. Some people develop just one gallstone, while others develop many gallstones at the same time.

In approximately 70% of cases, gallstones cause no symptoms. The symptoms of gallstones may include:

·       Pain in abdomen and back. Pain is generally infrequent, but severe

·       Back pain between shoulder blades

·       Pain in right shoulder

·       Increase in abdominal pain after eating a fatty meal

·       Jaundice

·       Fever and pain, if the gallbladder or bile duct becomes infected.

·       Nausea and vomiting

ATISTA INDICA

Colic pain around the umbilicus which makes the patient senseless. Pain worse after eating, and is relieved by-passing flatus. Nausea aggravates in morning. Canine hunger and desire for sweets. Bitter taste in mouth.

BELLADONNA

Hyperesthesia of all senses. Sensitive to light, noise. Face red, and hot. Irritable. For acute gall stone colic.

BERBERIS VULGARIS

Colic, pain from gall bladder to stomach, worse pressure. Sharp, stitching pains in the gall bladder. It is an excellent remedy for renal colic also.

CACTUS GRANDIFLORUS

Gall stones with constriction and cardiac affections.

CARDUS MARIANUS

Gall-stone diseases with an enlarged liver. Jaundice. Swelling of gall bladder with painful tenderness. Stitches in liver, worse lying on left side. Golden yellow colored urine.  Prevent recurrence of gall-stones.

CHELIDONIUM MAJUS

Gallbladder colic. Pain going backward, or fixed at the inferior angle of right scapula. Jaundice from gallbladder obstruction. Vomiting, clay-colored stools. Yellow tongue with intended edges.  Pain in the region of liver, shooting towards back and shoulder. Pain from liver, extending quickly down across navel into intestines.

CHINA OFFICINALIS

Obstruction in gallbladder with colic, periodic recurrence. Biliary calculi. Intensely sensitive to touch, to motion, to cold air. Periodicity, pains come on regularly at a given time each day, or every night at 12 o’ clock. Drenching night sweats. Pain more at night. Vomiting of undigested food.     Pain in the hepatic region, worse from touch. Shooting in region of liver, tenderness and pain on touching the part. Liver region sensitive to least pressure. Abdomen is bloated with excess of gas, painful distension of abdomen.

CHIONANTHUS VIRGINICA

Gallstone colic. Better lying on abdomen. Colic with cold sweat on forehead. Hypertrophy of liver. Jaundice. Loss of appetite. Nausea and retching with desire for stool. Tongue heavily coated. Bitter, sour, hot, bilious, ropy, gushing, vomiting, sets the teeth on edge. It is a remedy for the expulsion of stones, also a preventive for the formation of stones.

CHLOROFORM

Gallstone colic. Severe pain as if gallbladder would burst.

CHOLESTERINUM

Gallstones and gallstone colic. It is almost a specific for gallstone colic. It relieves the distress at once.

COLOCYNTHIS

Gall stone colic. Agonizing cutting, shooting pain causing the patient to bend over double.  Better by bending double or applying pressure.

DIOSCOREA VILLOSA

Severe pain. Hard, dull pain, gall bladder at 7 p.m. Cutting, squeezing pain, twisting pain. Colic begins at umbilicus and radiates to all parts of body. Better from bending back, stretching out, hard pressure.

FEL TAURI

Gallstones. Obstruction of the gall ducts. Fel tauri increases the duodenal secretion, emulsifies fat and increases the action of the intestines. Liquefies bile and removes the obstruction of gall ducts.

HYDRASTIS CANADENSIS

Gallstones. Catarrhal inflammation of mucous lining of gallbladder and biliary ducts. Cutting pain from liver to right scapula, worse lying on back or right side. Fullness and tenderness over liver region. Stools, white and frequent. Bitter, peppery taste in mouth. Jaundice, yellow skin. Constipation.

LEPTANDRA VIRGINICA

Gallstones. Burning in liver region. Sore, dull, burning ache over liver or near gall bladder. Jaundice. Better by lying stomach or side. Yellow coated tongue. Craving for cold drinks which aggravates burning and aching in stomach.

LYCOPODIUM CLAVATUM

Gallstone colic. Sensitive, and congested liver. Inflammation of liver. Recurrent bilious attacks with vomiting of bile. Flatulent abdomen, bloating, obliged to loosen clothes. Worse 4-8 pm. Prefers hot food and hot drinks. Craving for sweet.

MERCURIUS

Gallstone colic. Violent stitches in hepatic region, could not breathe or eructate. Worse night. Cannot lie on right side. Jaundice. Bad taste in mouth. Tongue moist and furred. Profuse salivation.  Fetid odor from mouth. Profuse sweat, but does not relieve, may even increase the suffering.

MORGAN GAERTNER

Gallstone colic. Relieve pain, also dissolve the stone.

NUX VOMICA

Gallstone colic. Colic with severe pains on right side. Spasms of abdominal muscles with stitching pains in liver. Liver swollen, indurated, sensitive, with pressure and stinging. Cannot bear tight clothing. Jaundice, aversion to food. Constipation. Constipation with frequent ineffectual urging to stool. Stool is incomplete and unsatisfactory.  Oversensitive, irritable, and impatient.

PHOSPHORUS

Liver congested. Tenderness in the liver region. Worse lying on left side. A very weak, empty, gone sensation felt in whole abdominal cavity. Craving for ice- cold drinks, vomited when warm in the stomach, vomiting followed by great thirst.

PODOPHYLLUM PELTATUM

Jaundice with gallstones. Sore and painful liver, better rubbing. Liver and whole abdominal viscera are sore. Colic at daylight every morning. Better bending forward, warmth application. Tongue yellow or white, shows the imprint of teeth.

STIGMATA MADAGUS

Gallstone colic. Relieves at once the violent pain if given during paroxysm.

TERMINALIA CHEBULA

Intense pain in abdomen, aggravated at night. Pain aggravated by sitting, better by lying down. Flatulence and distension of abdomen, relieved by passing flatus. Anorexia, profuse salivation, and bitter taste in mouth. Tongue is coated brown.

THLASPI BURSA PASTORIS

Gallstone colic. Liver affections secondary to uterine conditions.

VERATRUM ALB

Gallstone colic. Great pressure on liver region with vomiting and diarrhea. Profuse sweating, cold sweat on forehead. Hyperemia of liver. Cold skin, cold face, cold back, cold hands, feet and legs, cold sweat.
